You’re Welcome Here
Whether you’ve been to church your whole life or never set foot in one, we’d love to meet you this Sabbath.

A Welcome From our Pastor

Hi, I’m John Smith. I’m so glad you’re thinking about visiting Aspen Grove SDA Church.
We’re a church family of every age and background, and we’re still learning what it means to follow Jesus together. You don’t need to have it all figured out, know the songs, or bring a Bible. Just come as you are.
When you arrive, look for me or one of our greeters at the front door. We’d love to say hello and help you find your way around.
— John Smith, Senior Pastor

Why Do We Worship on Saturday?
Yes, our main service is on Saturday, not Sunday. As Seventh-day Adventists, we keep the Seventh-day of the week, Saturday, as the Sabbath, just as Jesus and His first followers did.
Our Sabbath runs from sundown Friday to sundown Saturday. It’s a weekly gift of rest: a time to set aside work and to-do lists, worship together, enjoy nature, and spend unhurried time with family and friends.
You don’t have to share our beliefs to be welcome. We’re happy to talk more about the Sabbath whenever you’re curious.

What to Expect
Visitors are welcome at Sabbath School, Worship Service and Fellowship Lunch.
Sabbath School · 9:00 am Sabbath School is a relaxed, small-group Bible study or Quarterly Lesson study that is on a specific topic and is Bible based (you can pick up a copy at the welcome desk of the Quarterly). Adults gather in classes where you can join the conversation or simply listen. There are separate classes for children and teens.
Worship Service · 10:45 am Our service lasts about 60-75 minutes. It includes traditional and contemporary christian music, prayer, a children’s story, Scripture reading, and a Bible-based sermon. You’re welcome to sing along, usually for singing we do stand and prayer is usually asked to kneel if you are able.
Fellowship Lunch · (After Church, on the first and third Sabbaths of each month), we share a potluck lunch in the fellowship hall, and guests are always invited. You don’t need to bring anything. Many Adventists eat a vegetarian diet, so most dishes are meat-free.
What should I wear? You’ll see everything from suits and dresses to jeans and sweaters. Wear whatever you’re comfortable in. We’re just glad you’re here.
Frequently Asked Questions
Experiencing something new can be intimidating and we want to make sure you feel comfortable and at home. Here are some common questions about our church and worship.
Do I need to be an Adventist to attend?
Not at all. Everyone is welcome, wherever you are on your spiritual journey.
Will I be asked to give money?
An offering is collected during the service, but guests are never expected to give. Just let the plate pass by.
Do I need to bring a Bible?
No. There are Bibles in the pews, and Scripture passages are shown on the screen. You are more than welcome to bring your own Bible in whatever translations feels best for you as well.
What happens at communion?
We celebrate communion once a quarter. It begins with a foot-washing service, men and women can meet in separate rooms for this part, we also offer family foot washing. Followed by the elements of “bread” and “wine”, we use grape juice. Everyone is welcome to take part in communion called open-communion, and it’s completely fine to simply observe.
Can I watch online first?
Yes. Our services are live streamed every Sabbath at 10:45 a.m. on YouTube. And a video is posted by the next day.
Who should I talk to if I have questions?
Stop by the welcome desk, or reach out to by filling out the form on the Contact Us page and we are happy to reach out to you.

Kids and Families
Kids are a big part of our church family, and we’ve planned for them.
- Children’s Sabbath School: Age-based classes from babies through teens, with songs, Bible stories and crafts.
- During worship: Kids are welcome in the church service, and usually a children’s story just for them. Activity bags are available at the welcome desk.
- Nursery and parents’ room: A quiet room with a window and speakers, so you can still hear the service.
- During the week: Adventurers (ages 4–9) and Pathfinders (ages 10–15) offer outdoor adventures, skill-building and service projects.
- Safety: All children’s volunteers, deacons, elders and pastors are background-checked and trained.
First time? A greeter can walk you to your child’s classroom and introduce you to the teacher.

What We Believe
We’re part of the Seventh-day Adventist Church, a worldwide Christian family. Here are a few things at the heart of our faith:
- Jesus is everything. We believe Jesus Christ is God’s Son, who lived, died and rose again to save us. Salvation is His free gift of grace, not something we earn.
- The Bible is our guide. We look to Scripture as God’s Word and the foundation for how we live.
- Sabbath is a gift. We rest and worship on Saturday, the seventh day, as a weekly reminder that God created us and cares for us.
- Jesus is coming again. The name “Adventist” comes from our hope in Christ’s soon return, when He will make all things new.
- Faith shapes the whole person. We care about health, education and serving our community, because God cares about every part of our lives.
